Invigilators barred from carrying cellphones in Madhyamik exam

Invigilators will never be permitted to carry cell phones inside the examination hall through the Madhyamik exam that begins Wednesday, the Western Bengal Panel of Extra Education has said.

Teachers, who've been assigned the work of invigilators, must give their cellular phone 30 minutes prior to the start of evaluation to the venue-in-chage who'll be a authorities official, Sunday board chief executive Kalyanmoy Ganguly told reporters.

The move was said by him was aimed at avoiding malpractices.

Suspension

Disciplinary action, including suspension, will be studied against those violating the rule, he said.

Students were barred from carrying mobiles in the last editions of the examinations.

Ganguly said the centre official in charge, centre secretary, venue supervisor, venue in control and extra venue supervisor have been permitted to use cellphones.

This past year, the headmaster of a higher college in Jalpaiguri district was suspended for leaking the question papers of the Madhyamik examination.
